Christmas is all about sharing. In the spirit of the holiday, the San Antonio Chamber Choir has invited choirs from throughout the greater San Antonio area to join them for the world premiere of Stacey Gibbs Christmas medley I Can Tell the World, Let Our Love Be Heard. Witness it live at Tobin Center for the Performing Arts on Thursday, December 20th at 7:30 p.m.
Gibbs is a prolific and highly sought-after composer/arranger. Best known for arrangements of spirituals, he is highly acclaimed for his ability to infuse new energy into familiar works without sacrificing their authenticity or power. Maestro Gibbs’ spirituals have been performed by such diverse ensembles as the United States Air Force Sergeants, The St. Olaf Choir, and the Stellenbosch Choir of Africa among countless others internationally.
The concert will include several pieces with brass choir, including "Christmas Joy" by Stephen Chatman, Daniel Pinkham’s "Christmas Cantata" and "Joy," a weaving together of Beethoven’s stunning "Ode to Joy" and Handel’s "Joy to the World." The subtle tenderness of Christmas will be expressed through music from the Baltics and around the globe.
Don’t miss what promises to be an uplifting evening of seasonal songs. Tickets to I Can Tell the World, Let Our Love Be Heard are 25 dollars and may be purchased online.
