Sure, you have seen parades, but what about one that takes place strictly on water? Well, that’s what you’ll see at the Texas Cavaliers River Parade! This one-of-a-kind parade takes place on the banks of the San Antonio River with thousands of onlookers. In addition to more than 45 festively decorated river barges, the event also features live music and celebrity guests. Don’t miss it on Monday, April 22nd, starting at 7:00 p.m.!
Each year hundreds of thousands of people line the banks of the San Antonio River to view the most unusual parade in America: the Texas Cavaliers River Parade! This year’s parade, entitled “Magnificent Missions,” promises an evening of family fun with live music, celebrities and lights. More than 50 festively decorated floats – that actually float! – and costumed participants will make this river parade one to watch. King Antonio XCVII will reign over the evening’s festivities, leading the parade in his custom-made King’s Cruiser.
Funds generated through the parade are donated to local children’s charities through the organization’s Texas Cavaliers Charitable Foundation. Founded in 1926, the Texas Cavaliers consist of over 600 business, civic and community leaders seeking to give back to the community and support those in need. Made possible by their generous community partners, the Texas Cavaliers have given away more than $6 million with $1 million given away in 2018.
This event is part of Fiesta San Antonio, a celebration of San Antonio’s rich and diverse cultures. Fiesta has evolved into one of this nation’s premier festivals with an economic impact of more than $340 million for the Alamo City. Funds raised by official Fiesta events provide services to San Antonio citizens throughout the year.
