Fiesta Noche del Rio treats audiences to an artistry of colorful, costumed dancers and rich, lush sounds that bring to life the deep roots that make San Antonio a special place for love and life. Best of all, this engaging event also benefits the Alamo Kiwanis Club. Check out the 63rd annual season premier this Friday, June 21st beginning at 8:30 p.m. at the historic Arneson River Theatre.
Fiesta Noche del Rio, an Alamo Kiwanis Production, was first performed in 1957, and has been a Riverwalk attraction ever since. Starting with the legendary Rosita Fernandez – San Antonio’s “First Lady of Song”, and creator and original performer – Fiesta Noche del Rio has continuously performed for hundreds of thousands of delighted patrons, without fail.
At the show, you’ll see several eye-popping dance performances, from the initial “Celebration!” to the final “Fiesta Mexicana!” Special highlights include “Bailes de Espana,” featuring Alejandro Antonio, and salsa and tango routines.
Alamo Kiwanis is a service organization in association with Kiwanis International. Founded in 1947, the Alamo branch enjoys premier status in the community. The branch hosts several fundraising events – Fiesta Noche del Rio, “K” Fore Kids, and Clays for Kids – which have allowed the club to donate close to $3 million dollars to local children’s charities such as Any Baby Can, The Children’s Shelter, Children’s Bereavement Center, and Respite Care, just to name a few.
